Gloam

Hailing from Boorloo (Perth, WA), Gloam is a dynamic four-piece post-shoegaze band that formed in early 2022.

The band’s sound draws inspiration from iconic shoegaze acts such as Deftones, Diiv, Deafheaven, Narrowhead, Nothing, Slowdive, and Whirr. With their unique blend of ethereal soundscapes and powerful walls of sound, Gloam takes listeners on an immersive, genre-defying journey. Their genre-bending style appeals to a diverse range of fans, resonating with followers of alternative, hardcore, and metal music scenes.

In their relatively brief tenure on the live circuit, the band has made a significant impact, sharing the stage with international acts such as Deafheaven (USA), Movements (USA), Boston Manor (UK), Touché Amoré (USA), Citizen (USA), Hubris (Switzerland), and Fleshwater (USA), as well as some of Perth’s heavyweights, including Daybreak, Idle Eyes, No Brainer, Pinwheel, and Vacant Home.

In March 2025, Gloam made their east coast debut, performing at Destroy All Lines ‘New Bloom Festival’ in Sydney — a stacked event headlined by Basement (UK), Balance and Composure (USA), and Drain (USA). They also supported Basement (UK) for two additional shows on their Australian tour. These appearances marked the band’s first steps onto the east coast, with many more to come.

Following the success of their self-titled debut EP in 2022, Gloam released their highly anticipated sophomore EP Well Dwelling on 4 October 2024. This 5-track EP includes the singles ‘Hinder’ and ‘Diving Heavy,’ both of which received strong support across streaming platforms and radio.

Well Dwelling is a contemplative journey through themes of grief, anxiety, and personal growth. With its dynamic instrumentation and introspective lyrics, the EP marks a significant evolution in Gloam’s sound, balancing their signature atmospheric intensity with raw emotion.

The band’s music has received extensive PR coverage, with airplay on major stations including Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, BBC Radio, and RTR FM, and features in key press outlets such as Pilerats, Aus Music Scene, The Partae, and WAM (including a recent interview). Gloam’s previous EP also made waves, earning spots on Spotify editorial playlists such as Adrenaline.

With momentum continuing to build and a growing national presence, Gloam is undeniably poised for greater recognition in the global alt-rock and shoegaze scenes — with new music set for release in 2025.
