Scott Adam

Media and Music Director
North Metro TAFE

Scott Adam started working life as a cadet newspaper journalist in the late 80’s where he quickly discovered the Perth live music scene through writing interviews and reviews. He also wrote the first story about the opening of WARMIA (now WAM). Writing evolved into shooting video for local band performances, which moved into promoting local gigs, managing original bands and running the bookings for a few Perth venues. Scott was half the team that started the Healthway funded statewide band competition, The Next Big Thing, before joining TAFE’s Music course as the Music Business lecturer. Ten years later, he set up WA’s first Music Business courses. He became the WA coordinator for the National Campus Band Competition. He also founded local record label Qstik which grew into a management, graphic design, photography and publicity business. Band management allowed him to tour manage his acts regionally, nationally and to the USA and UK. Scott stopped managing in 2014 to focus on family and his education career, but continued to maintain a voluntary advisory, mentorship, coaching and facilitation role supporting local artists, WAM workshops and national music industry working groups. Today, when he isn’t  he is the Portfolio Director of Media and Music at North Metropolitan TAFE leading a team of 70+ trainers through courses in Music, Sound Production, Music Business, Photography, Animation, Game Art, Visual Effects, Film, Screen Specialist Makeup, Radio and Content Creation.
